FAQs

Q?What are the benefits of eco-friendly products?
A.

The benefits of eco-friendly products are that they help keep our environment clean for the future. They also make it a better working and living environment for the professional and the client. Most times, when a floor is refinished with conventional oils or waxes, the homeowner is required to vacate. This is not the case with waterborne finishes. More research has gone into these eco-friendly products to make them a better product in general.

Q?Are there any types of hardwood floors that can not be refinished?
A.

There are many hardwood floors that can not be refinished such as laminates, and some engineered flooring. It is strongly recommended that you consult a professional to determine if it is possible.

Q?After the final coat, how long should I wait before placing furniture or walking on the floor?
A.

The floor can be walked on carefully, with socks only after approximately four hours. The manufacturers suggests that furniture be place a few days after the final coat. All furniture should have some form of felt pads underneath. NO AREA RUGS FOR SEVEN DAYS. It takes that time for the finish to cure.

Q?Why should I hire a professional instead of doing it myself?
A.

I recommend a professional to refinish your floors because we have been trained to use the proper tools and finishes from the manufacturers. Also, we are used to dealing with unusual flooring quirks such as leveling, installing, and custom finishing. Our equipment is kept at peak operating performance, whereas machines that are rented are never kept in top working order.

Q?What is Dustless Sanding and Refinishing? How does it work?
A.

Dustless Sanding means that there is a significant reduction in the airborne dust particulates. We achieve this by using vacuums attached to all our machines. Double N Hardwood Floors has a unique system that removes the dust out of the house immediately into a trailer parked on site. So as the floor is being sanded, the dust is being collected in a safe and controlled manner creating a better environment to work in and less cleanup once the job is completed.
